Being Beloved

Letting God Give Good Gifts

...faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God. - A.W. Tozer

Instead of telling Him all our preferences. Why not let Him surprise us with goodness? His good and perfect gifts. The kind of gifts that take us aback, take our breath away, because we had no idea God loved us so much to include even that one little detail. When we stay out of the maneuvering business we take the limiting reign off of God. God can only do so much if we insist on refusing His love.

We can put our soul in that posture of looking upon the saving God that A. W. Tozer writes about. Faith is a gift from God. Faith is looking and believing no matter what we see. Faith is certainty based on past experiences. Our own experience or that of others.

Jesus explains the incident with Moses lifting up the serpent of brass in the wilderness. The people were being bitten by serpents and dying. God told Moses to make a serpent of brass and put it on a pole. Anyone bitten could look upon that brass serpent and be saved. (Numbers 21:6 paraphrased mine).

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:14-15

The gift of healing and life is within our gaze. Whether He is telling us to look up or down or across the street. God is not limited. We are the ones that become limited when we ignore the outstretched hand of God. When we say no to the gifts that may seem strange at first, or not at all what we think we want. But every good and perfect gift is from God..as James 1:7 tells us.

As we walk about in the reality of life we will notice, if we look, that faith is a physical looking or hearing with our eyes and ears, but believing, that is done within the soul. You only need a speck. A mustard seed of faith. The smallest gift from God yet it seems to be the one all other gifts grow from.
