Being Beloved

What Knowing Yourself Actually Looks Like

Knowing who you are in Christ looks like a person choosing continually to lay God’s guidelines before awake and opened eyes. A veil is lifted so we can see spiritually hidden things. It is a belief that He is personal. It is knowing for certain you are a soul enfleshed, fearfully and wonderfully made for a purpose thought out by God, not this world and the many opinions of people in it.

Knowing who you are is not some selfish pursuit but rather a mature facing of the truths you need to face and the lies you need to unravel yourself from. To be better for God. If we have already passed through that decision phase, we’ve taken that leap and said we believe in God and this is the path we have decided to pursue. Aren’t we then being on the same path as our Creator able to trust ourselves?

I used to believe if it was something I desired then it was probably wrong to want it, this is an example of a lie I needed to unravel myself from. It’s not that I can always trust myself like I can always trust God. I get hungry and tired and just weak. This is when I have to remember God’s guidelines, I have to once again lay them out before me.

Knowing who I am is returning, retreating, resting again in Him. In quietness and confidence shall be my strength.

For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
