Being Beloved

Some Things About God

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are you ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the rain comes down , and the snow from heaven, and does not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth the bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, it will prosper in the thing for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:10-11

God’s thoughts are not my thoughts. We can try to align our lives here on earth with the ways of God and being who He created us to be. But we are still flesh locked souls, encumbered and limited. Knowing fully the mind of God isn’t really something God asks of us. He asks that we believe Him. Faith.

Even with the mind of Christ, I find myself lax and misunderstanding often. The norm is having to pause and remind myself of the truth I know in the face of circumstances. God already knows the why and when. He has a purpose and a plan.

It is the eternal factor, the fact that we are immortal souls that keep forgetting because we live in mortal bodies. It is this that really sets apart God’s mind and my mind, His way and my way. I constantly forget my spiritual identity in favor of a physical body here on earth identity. I think on the ashes and the dust rather than the breath of God within.

Then there are His words. I love this verse and I’ve been reminded of it often. The way God works, introducing a scripture and then it comes up again in unrelated things. Maybe that is the point. A word, a phrase, an action speaking God’s word out loud.

His words never come back void. Words that remain valid and intact, never emptied out nor purposeless. I imagine God’s words spoken, God’s words acted out by saints long ago as well as today. Millions of words multiplying with the energy of God.

How powerful God’s words are. How could any of us possibly know His ways completely. If His words never come back void, maybe we should say them, act them out in real life even if we don’t ever get to know what God did with that word spoken from your mouth or that help from your hand. God is powerful and His plans will not be thwarted if we know this we can rest. We can be still and know He is God.
